The Story of This Carpet
The Joshagan pattern is a classic style originating from the village of Joshagan near Isfahan, Iran: concentric palmette rosettes and leaf clusters are loosely arranged on a light background. Afghan artisans reinterpret this composition in an anthracite Chobi palette; the wool is treated for weeks with natural madder, dyed with plant extracts, and softened to an antique feel through washing.
Why a Single-Piece Handwoven Afghan Carpet
- Uniqueness: Only one available.
- Vegetable dye durability: Does not fade.
- Ghazni wool: Luster with lanolin content.
- Asymmetric Persian knot: Sharp detail.
- Investment value: Use across generations.
Color and Pattern
Five large Joshagan palmette rosettes aligned along the central axis on an anthracite (coal gray) background; each rosette opens like a star in layers of red, golden yellow, pistachio green, and ivory. Spiral branches and leaf clusters between the palmettes; small flower and bird details on the edges. Inner border is a thin brick-red stripe, outer border features a large palmette frieze on an ivory background. Dark background colors enhance brightness; anthracite shifts to smoky and navy tones in daylight.
Care Recommendations
- Vacuum without brush on low speed.
- Blot stains with a white cloth.
- Rotate every 6 months.
- For wet cleaning, consult a professional carpet cleaner.
The loose rhythm of Joshagan palmettes creates a noble vertical flow on the anthracite background.
Protect Elegance
A delicate care routine should be adopted to preserve the original splendor and silky texture of handwoven and natural fiber Carpetdocia pieces that add value to your living space for generations.
Immediate Action and Liquid Contact
Timing is the most critical factor in case of possible liquid spills. Use a clean, slightly damp cloth to gently blot the liquid from the surface without rubbing. Always perform this action in the direction of the carpet’s nap (the natural direction of the fibers). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers like TENCEL™ and viscose. Stop the intervention immediately if you have any doubts.
Routine Care and Light Balance
Always prefer vacuum cleaners with low suction power in your weekly cleaning routine. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance the reaction of natural fibers to light and prevent regional tone differences (fading), we recommend changing the orientation of your carpet every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Touch (Professional Cleaning)
Noble textures such as handwoven, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the silky shine and structural integrity of the carpet. For deep cleansing, support should be sought only from professional carpet care centers specialized in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
Delicate pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their structure. (Only specific models clearly labeled "Washable" in their name can be washed in household machines on a low heat and delicate cycle.)
